Toys ‘n’ Tucker? Tell me more!
Through Toys ‘n’ Tucker Anglicare Sydney provides a way for churches, schools, businesses and community groups to share the joy of Christmas and demonstrate God’s love by providing food and gifts for those who would otherwise go without.
We want to reach out to more families this year especially during these uncertain times.
We aim to distribute 6000 Christmas food hampers and 4500 toy hampers to families in need this Christmas.
How does it make a difference?
In 2019, through the generosity of the community we collected approximately 100 tonnes of food. Over 5,500 Christmas food hampers and 4,000 toy hampers were distributed to families who were in need.
What measures and processes are in place to make Toys ‘n’ Tucker COVID Safe?
At our warehouse, we are following all measures and processes to make Toys ‘n’ Tucker COVID safe.
As donations enter the warehouse, they will be sorted and packed into hampers, and will then be quarantined for 14 days to ensure community members receive hampers that are COVID free.
Warehouse staff and volunteers
All staff and volunteers are required to adhere to Anglicare’s COVID safe practices while in the warehouse and packing hampers. Masks, sanitising and social distancing will be strictly adhered to in line with NSW Health requirements.
Anglicare events for collecting hampers will adhere to COVID safe requirements, with limited numbers of people attending at one time to maintain social distancing, no hospitality spaces, or areas to congregate in. Goodie bags will be pre-packed rather than clients choosing their own items from assorted goods. All events will comply with NSW Health requirements.
All collection drivers and driver buddies will wear masks and adhere to sanitizing and social distancing requirements in line with NSW Health requirements.
How does it work?
Groups collect and donate new toys and non-perishable food for Christmas hampers. We pick everything up and take it to the Anglicare warehouse where it’s sorted and packed by teams of volunteers. Food hampers and gift parcels are then distributed to people in need through Anglicare’s emergency relief and family support programs and by local churches.
Who can be involved?
Registrations are open to all churches, schools, businesses and community groups in the greater Sydney and Illawarra areas. Toys ‘n’ Tucker can be run by groups of any size!
